What a beautiful day out today! If only we could have this kind of weather all summer long. Mr. 10 was off school again today on a four day holiday weekend, so we spent the afternoon at the Morton Arboretum with friends (and then stopped at Oberweis to use free kids cone coupons from a school reading program — how’s that for a good day?).
The tadpoles in the Children’s Garden are due to hatch any minute now. The kids were really hoping it would happen while we were there if they stared at the water long enough, but alas, it was not to be.
We did spot frogs, though, as well as turtles and ducks and dragonflies, so that will have to do. 🙂
It’s just beautiful right now; everything is green and starting to bloom — so a great time to take a trip over to the arboretum before the weather gets crazy hot. We’re definitely heading back again this summer. Where else do you like to head with the kids for an affordable outing over the summer or on the weekend? I’m looking for new ideas. 🙂
We also stopped at Ultra Foods (Lombard) this morning
As for the rest of our day today, Mr. 10 wanted to go visit Ultra Foods with me this morning. If anyone hears rumors of what’s going in that sad strip mall where Ultra now is, I’d love to know. I hope they open a Tony’s or something and re-hire people. 🙁
The store is now “up to 90% off” and looking very empty; I don’t know if there’s really enough inventory left to get them through Friday.
This was likely my last trip over there, so I picked up the above for $12.07 — and you can tell that Mr. 10 was with me by the animal crackers, marshmallows, and butterscotch chips. (He’s currently a good shopping companion as he is still at the point where he likes to do things like unload the cart and carry bags!) As of this morning Ultra also had a bunch of Green Mountain and Centrella K-Cups left at something like $2.70 for a pack of 12, if anyone is looking for those.
So that sums up our day in photos. I hope that you all had a lovely day, and please do let me know about summer activity ideas. 🙂
