This simple Pepperoni Naan Pizza takes just 30 minutes to throw together on a busy weeknight, even including the affordable homemade pizza sauce!
Some weeks, you just need simple and easy. This has most definitely been one of those weeks over here, so I thought I’d tell you how I make Pepperoni Naan Pizza (with homemade pizza sauce).
You can always, of course, jazz these naan pizzas up further by adding more of your own favorite pizza toppings. I like to add mushrooms and spinach to my pepperoni pizza, Middle School Guy sometime appreciates black olives, but just plain pepperoni pleases everyone — and provides the savory canvas for your own experimentation.
People Pleasing Pepperoni Naan Pizza
Pepperoni can get a little greasy, so blot your finished pizza if you like. (You can also cut down on the pepperoni and swap in some veggies, if you prefer!) This simple naan pizza recipe makes four personal pizzas.
How to make pizza sauce
I hardly ever buy pre-packaged pizza sauce, and here’s why:
- It’s much more affordable to doctor up a $.29 can of tomato sauce
- I don’t like sweet sauce, and most pizza sauce contains added sugar
- The typical 14 oz jar contains too much sauce for the naan pizza we usually make; using an 8 oz can prevents waste
So, I tend make my own homemade pizza sauce using a can of tomato sauce — plus a few flavorful add-ins. (Sea salt, not pictured — add to taste.)
Customize your own homemade pizza sauce
If you prefer a sweeter pizza sauce, add a little sugar. If you prefer a richer sauce, add a little tomato paste and a touch of olive oil. If you prefer a spicier sauce, up the crushed red pepper. Customize the basic pizza sauce recipe below to your own family’s tastes.
Pepperoni Naan Pizza (with homemade pizza sauce)
Ingredients
– to make the pizza sauce
8 oz can tomato sauce
1.5 tsp minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
Sea salt, to taste
– to make the pizza
4 pieces naan
1 tsp olive oil (optional)
2 cups shredded mozzarella (8 oz)
3 oz pepperoni slices
other pizza toppings of choice (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Stir together all of the pizza sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Shred the cheese, if not using pre-shredded.
Arrange naan bubbly side up on two rimmed baking sheets. Spoon pizza sauce onto the center of each, spreading it around to cover the naan with the back of the spoon.
Brush the exposed edges of each piece of naan with olive oil (optional).
Top each naan pizza with shredded mozzarella and pepperoni. Add any other pizza toppings you desire (sliced mushrooms, black olives, onion, peppers, etc.).
Cook your naan pizzas at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until nicely browned, switching the baking sheets between oven racks halfway through.
Note: I like to brush the exposed edges with olive oil to help the naan brown better, but this is optional. If you’d like the crust more done overall, parbake the naan for three minutes before adding the pizza sauce and toppings.
Pepperoni pizza: Classic for a reason!
Don’t let a lack of pizza sauce stop you from enjoying your own delicious personal homemade pizzas: A simple can of tomato sauce plus a few add-ins is all that you need.
The coolest thing about making personal homemade naan pizzas, though, is the opportunity to customize the toppings to everyone’s tastes. Pepperoni pizza is of course usually a kid-pleaser, but I often set out an array of topping options for a make-your-own-pizza night. What do you like to add to yours?

While I have been doing this for a while now I just stumbled on this page and wanted to add that the naan bread makes the perfect base for this pizza, I too buy mine at Aldi and have been buying the garlic naan for just a little extra flavor! I even use their sauce which is cheap and then sprinkle the crushed red pepper and Italian seasoning over the sauce! I like this so much more than any frozen pizza and most delivery pizzas out there! SO GOOD!

My family loves naan bread to begin with, and we were really excited to see this on the menu this week! I was happy with how simple it was to put together and have on the table quickly. Delicious! We all approve.

Where do you get the naan pizza dough??

It's not dough, but the pre-made naan bread. I picked mine up at ALDI, but you can also find it at Trader Joe's or in the bakery section of most grocery chains.
