Mr. 9 and I have an idea for fun and frugal homemade after-school snack and craft you can make with your kids! All you need is fruit and toothpicks, and you’re in business to start creating your own super-easy Grape Shapes & fruit kebobs. You can use a variety of fruits here, but I’d suggest including grapes for the foundation — they’re just the right size to build with, plus firm enough to hold up to the weight of your creations.
(If you have littler ones, just be sure to watch them with the toothpicks, though…)
Build your own Grape Shapes + Fruit Kebobs
Here’s all you need to build Grape Shapes & Fruit Kebobs: Toothpicks, grapes, and additional sturdier cut up fruit of your choice. (We used apples and strawberries here, because that’s what I had in the house.) Let your kids build their own fun structures… and then it’s time to eat your creations.
When the kids get tired of building, it’s also super simple to create mini fruit kebobs with your leftover toothpicks. Mr. 9 here had great fun building, then ate an inordinate amount of fruit. That’s a win-win, and a great alternative to processed and packaged snacks. Enjoy! 🙂

This is a great idea Rachel. I imagine you could even incorporate cheese if made into small, light cubes.
