Last fall, I gathered up some organic product prices at Costco — and they are adding more organic products all the time. Yesterday I walked through and pulled out a few gluten free prices at Costco. As always, Costco pricing and product availability can vary by location and by day — so this is just an idea of the range of pricing for gluten free products at Costco. (Here I just included products labeled gluten free, not naturally GF items such as fruit, veggies, and nuts.)
See yesterday’s comparison of Udi’s gluten free bread at Costco: The 30 oz bread at Costco has bigger slices, and at $6.99 a loaf it works out to the equivalent of paying $2.80 for the regular 12 oz loaf they sell in grocery stores.
They also sell a shelf stable Essential Baking Co. multigrain gluten free bread — two 17.3 oz loaves for $7.99. (Both Udi’s and Essential Baking are also dairy free.) This is heavy-duty sealed in two individual bags, and the ones I bought yesterday don’t expire til end-April!
Get a five pound bag of Namaste gluten free Perfect Flour Blend for $8.99. This is supposed to measure cup-for-cup like conventional flour.
Get a 24 count box of Van’s gluten free waffles for $7.99. This is like buying four of the six count boxes they sell in the grocery store, so works out to about $2.00 each for the smaller boxes. (Without coupons, Van’s runs regular price from about $2.79 at Target to $3.99 at Jewel. They put out very few coupons and they’re always print limit one, so this is a great way to stock up in the absence of a sale+coupon.)
This big 24.5 oz jar of Spice Islands taco seasoning is gluten free, and runs $5.69. (It does, however, contain cornmeal — for those of you also avoiding corn.)
Get three 12 oz boxes of gluten free red lentil penne for $8.79.
And then we have the snacks… so many snacks. All of these were labeled gluten free:
- 18 ct KIND bars, $17.99.
- 18 oz Pirate’s Booty, $5.89.
- 20 ct Caveman bars, $17.79.
- 20 oz organic ancient grain chips, $6.89.
- 40 oz Kirkland organic tortilla chips, $4.59.
- 19 oz Goodie Girl Crunchy Chaos crispy rice chocolate chip cookies, $7.89.
- 16 oz Van’s The Perfect Ten cracker, $6.99.
- 28 oz Crunchmaster crackers, $9.89.
- 18 ct Nogii chocolate caramel bars, $13.79.
- 44 bags movie theater butter Kirkland microwave popcorn, $9.89.
- Four 8 ct bags crunchy Rice Rollers, $6.99.
- 12 oz bag Skinny Pop, $4.79.
- 20 oz Snapea Crisps, $6.89.

So disappointed! Asked at Costco service desk today for Essential Baking GF bread as it was not available at Oak Brook or Melrose Park. (Udi's doesn't work for me as it has potato starch.) Service desk said it was removed from stores in the entire midwest. If you're a fan stock-up before it's gone. Don't know any retail stores carrying it in the area. Checked their website - $6 for 1 loaf with very high shipping to this area. Perhaps if all the fans out there fill out the Costco comment cards it will return!

Finding the Udi's bread has been hit or miss for me at our location. The price is super amazing though, right?! Good to know about the waffles. I spend a fortune on those at "Whole Paycheck" every 3 weeks when I do my shopping.

Trader Joe's also carries a gluten free dairy free waffle that runs $1.99 a box, if you have one of those near you.

Just a few opinions..Essential Baking Co. multigrain gluten free bread - my gf daughter did not care for this brand, she said it was alright toasted. Also the taco seasoning is very smokey tasting, fine if you like that taste. The gf flour blend is amazing, great for baking, waffles and pancakes.

My wheat free junior high guy likes the Essential Baking -- it is very seedy though if you are used to white bread. Haven't yet tried the taco seasoning, thanks!
