Welcome back to Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends! Everyone here has been squirrelly this week, but is it technically correct to say that about cats? Do squirrels get catty? ANYway, although we have had rare moments of peace and harmony where Mr. 10 is blissfully surrounded by his cats, at other moments he’s really pushing the limits of BKL’s patience.
What cats hate the most
For example: Chief among the list of things cats hate the most is apparently being snuggled in a baby carrier. This much we know to be true, due to some hands-on experimentation by Mr. 10. That’s science. 🙂
You know what else cats hate the most? Well, here’s one of the things Jeremy hates the most: Kitten bullies. For instance, the photo series above illustrates what happens when a guy is sleeping comfortably on a blanket minding his own cozy cat business, but then gets displaced by someone about a third of his size in a matter of seconds.
What else do cats hate? Well, apparently they hate for you to have clean produce! Bad Kitty Lucy the other day decided that the best place in the house to rest was on top of the fresh-picked garden cucumbers I’d placed in a bowl on the table. Does that look comfortable to you?!
And as BKL continues schooling Bad Kitten Gnocchi in her bad kitty ways, I guess that when Mr. 10 leaves a cup of milk unattended it becomes fair game.
And I guess we don’t need all of the Monopoly pieces…
But when she is good she is very, very good
As she begins to mellow out a little now that she’s settled into adult cat-hood, though, BKL now occasionally deigns to hang out with me while I’m working. This makes me miss my old companionable Emma cat, who was always near me or on my lap while I typed. 🙁
In non-cat-related news this week, yesterday I went in on a multi-family garage sale with my neighbors and a friend. This made me realize how much darn work a garage sale is! So, rather than shoving everything that didn’t sell back in my garage when it was over, we loaded up the back of my car with a bunch of children’s clothes, shoes, and toys for donation, while the books went to someone who runs several little free libraries.
The real end goal here really was to reduce clutter rather than to strike it rich, because somehow with two kids and three cats we tend to accumulate so much stuff that I don’t need taking up indefinite room in my house and garage. So in that sense: Mission accomplished. 😉
How’s your own Caturweek (or Cat-Free week!) going?
That’s about it for this week’s Caturday, so how’s your week going? (And am I missing something, or are garage sales not necessarily worth the effort? lol)

To me, garage sales are only worth it if you have good, heavy stuff and you want someone else to haul it away. Otherwise, they are a lot of work for minimal payoff.

I agree that garage sales are usually a lot of work for only a small reward. And no matter how low your prices are, "professional" buyers always try to offer you even less. But, still, I look around at all the stuff I have that is in nice condition and think, "Maybe I could sell this in a garage sale." I haven't held one in a long time, and even when I stop at one it just seems like they're selling the same junk I already own. ;) Good for you for donating the leftovers right away, and not dragging it all back into your home!!
The cats are adorable. And mischievous, too. :)

I think garage sales are great for some people. We've known people that swear they make $800 to $1200 in 2 days and their stuff looks just like our stuff? We had one about 25 years ago and it was so much work and I made about $15 and my neighbor about $25! Donated the leftovers. Much easier to just take the stuff to Salvation Army or Goodwill to start with. Now, I just make a pile and when I'm tired of looking at it, I drop it off.

I LOVE your Caturday posts! Being a cat person myself (just 1 at the moment, but years ago had 5 at once), I love seeing them and reading your fun comments. As for garage sales, haven't had one in years (they ARE a lot of work) and stopped going to them on a regular basis over the last few years. I just donate my stuff now. When we lived in TN, my neighbor and I would go every Saturday. I do miss that.

Thanks for the cat updates! They are all so cute! #1: Garage sales are worth the effort. You get to socialize with neighbors, make a few bucks, and get rid of stuff you no longer want or need. Then, you donate the rest. It is all good. But, I agree, hard work. #2: It looks like BKG is trying to snuggle next to Jeremy. Obviously, Jeremy is not interested and leaves. I bet BKG is a bit disappointed.
