Rock ‘N Learn Sight Words Level 3 review — and giveaway!

Prizing and information for this giveaway have been provided by Rock ‘N Learn. I received a DVD for purposes of review; however, all opinions in this post are my own.

I’ve actually been familiar with the Rock ‘N Learn brand for years, because when Junior High Guy was much younger, he loved some of their live action math and Spanish DVDs and would sing along with an enthusiasm that would probably embarrass him now. So when we had the opportunity to check out one of the newer Rock ‘N Learn DVDs with Mr. 7, I thought this would be a great chance to see how things have changed over the years and if they were as catchy as I remembered.

Here’s Mr. 7 opening up Rock ‘N Learn Sight Words Level 3, which targets grades 1 and up and covers all first grade Dolch sight words plus some of Fry’s. (And yes, he’s in PJs — how else do you watch DVDs?!)

Unlike the earlier Rock ‘Learn DVDs I remembered, this one was entirely animated, and you can check out a clip on YouTube here. We had to look up the gray guy here online to confirm he was an armadillo — Festus by name, apparently.

Still catchy! Catchy enough to hold Mr. 7’s attention through the whole thing — and yes, there was some dancing involved. Each sight word is presented individually, then as part of a song with a bouncing dot to help kids follow along with the words. It’s always good to see videos that are both attention grabbing and educational, and Rock ‘N Learn has quite a few to choose from.

I would get level 1 sight words for my kindergarten class. This is a fun and engaging way to teach those pre-reading skills!

It'd be a tough pick between Learning Spanish, Sight Words, and getting ready for kindergarten!
